It's that time of year again when Christmas decorations appear on the High Street, Christmas songs are on the radio and romance readers look for novels with a Christmas theme.
Today, I'm delighted to join the blog tour for a wonderful Christmas novel: The Mobile Bakery At The Christmas Parade.
Twelve years ago, April left her childhood friend and boyfriend Ben to follow her dreams of being a famous baker, but now she is coming home with her tail between her legs. Ben is still upset about April leaving, so when she comes back he wants nothing to do with her. When April and Ben get thrown into organising the Christmas parade together, can they put their feelings and twelve-year feud aside for the sake of Christmas and give the villagers a parade they will never forget?
Now, over to Jodie to tell us about more about the book and her writing:
The Mobile Bakery At The Christmas Parade
by Jodie Homer
Hello,
So I am Jodie Homer and I write feel-good romance. The Mobile Bakery at the Christmas
Parade is my sixth novel and is actually based on my real village that is not called Birchlea-Heath, but it’s not far off the same. The coffee shop Brew and Chill is real, and the post office April’s dad works at is real. It was quite easy to write as I didn’t have to picture any of the places apart from the parade, which unfortunately doesn’t exist in my actual town.
Writing friends to lovers is one of my favourite tropes. April left all those years ago and is now back, so it’s fun to think about the feelings that would come up from that. Do they miss each other? Ben is actually angry April is back at first and it was really fun exploring this.
I love my characters having creative jobs so April baking was one of the first things that came when I was thinking about this book. The ice cream van being made into a cake van was the initial start point. The other characters, the friends to lovers and the area being where I live came next.
I really hope you all enjoy this book. I had a lot of fun writing it. Christmas is my favourite time of the year because there’s so much to do with it when writing and it’s always the music for me. I feel like music makes Christmas. I love cracking out Wham and Mariah, so my characters all of course love Christmas too.
I am actually, weirdly a shy and nervous person so I do not do karaoke in real life but all my
characters do it. I really feel like I push my characters to do things I wouldn’t and live vicariously through them.
Thank you so much, Jodie, for being a guest on my blog and for this fabulous insight into The Mobile Bakery At Christmas. I thoroughly enjoyed the reading the book, and it definitley got me in the mood for Christmas.
